Traditionally, in many organizations, some combination of application specialists handle most IT helpdesk functions to meet PC users' needs, while network administrators and system engineers address back-office network and connectivity operations. In some organizations, however, a lean internal IT staff must often focus more on strategic initiatives than desktop support and server maintenance.
